Carrie Hott is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Oakland, CA. Her
studio practice entails work with a variety of media including painting, drawing,
installation, and printmaking. Current preoccupations include the study of the development of artificial light and multiple forms of blackouts. Through her practice, Hott works to find origins, connect tangents, and locate invisible histories. In addition to her material practice, she regularly completes related projects that include mixed media presentations, classes, tours, and various collaborative endeavors. In 2009, with artist Elizabeth Bernstein, Carrie Hott co-founded the Royal NoneSuch Gallery, in Oakland, CA, an alternative art and community event space and she currently works as the Program Manager for Artist Residencies and Classes at Kala Art Institute. Hott received her B.F.A from Arizona State University. In 2005 she moved to the bay area where she received her M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007. Recent exhibitions and projects have included an installation with San Francisco based Stairwell's and a keynote lecture and project for PLAND at ISEA 2012 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. www.carriehott.com
