New Media Film Festival honors stories worth telling and brings the best in new media to the world. On June 9 & 10th 2015 in Los Angeles CA at the Mark Cuban owned state of the art theatre, The Landmark.  Festival goers will experience What's New, What's Next... in all media that are innovative and go beyond the ordinary.

S.T.E.A.M. Category 

Patient 39 UK US Premiere 

Director: Dan Clifton

When a soldier known only as Patient 39 awakes from a coma with no memory, the search begins for his identity and past. Based on a short story by bestselling British author William Boyd (author of Restless, Any Human Heart).

Documentary Category 

One Year Lease US 

Director:  Brian Bolster

  Told almost entirely through voicemail messages, One Year Lease documents the travails of Brian, Thomas, and Casper as they endure a year-long sentence with Rita, the cat-loving landlady.

Trailer Category 

A Hitch At The Fairmont US LA Premiere 

Director: Craig Lew 

A funny play on Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds promoting the novel A Hitch at the Fairmont written by Jim Averbeck.  The cover of the novel is enhanced with Augmented Reality where readers can view the trailer using a smartphone or tablet.

Worst Shark Attack Ever USA, Costa Rica, Taiwan, Japan LA Premiere 

Director: Veronica Grey

An expose' on how humans will not survive on this planet if we continue slaughtering sharks at the current alarming rate of 100,000,000 sharks a year or 190 sharks a minute or 3 sharks per second. Introduction by Leonardo DiCaprio with cameos by The Cure, MGMT, and superstar surfer John John Florence. The 1st 250  in the theatre get a shark toy. 

In the Spotlight today is the 6th Annual New Media Film Festival, offering more than 15 competitive categories that collectively celebrate a broad spectrum of storytelling -- from web series to tablet media to 3D extravaganzas. At the New Media Film Festival, mobile apps, digital comics, and music videos comfortably share the stage with documentaries, animation, narrative dramas, and more. Filmmakers with an itch to discover media trendsetters and extraordinary stories before the rest of the world won't want to miss this exciting celebration.

Judges at the New Media Film Festival include representatives from Marvel, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Television Academy and other pioneers in the entertainment industry. There's even a competitive category for Sniplers®, 30-second mini-trailers featured to garner attention for films not yet made. Filmmakers vie for a chance at $45,000 USD in awards. The festival also offers further screening opportunities to winning works on the newly launched New Media 3D channel and other distribution opportunities. 

MovieMaker Magazine has dubbed The New Media Film Festival one of "25 Festivals worth the Entry Fee," and Culture Rehab has called it "Sundance for the Facebook crowd.” Submissions accepted until April 20th 2015 and the schedule locks May 10th 2015.
