« Tollé »: Clamour, indignation, general protest.
Cabaret Tollé is an evening of entertaining artful unrest featuring the crème de la crème of Montreal’s cabaret scene. Launched in January 2014, this fun-raising event was created in response to Canadian Heritage’s suspicious withdrawal of financial support to Studio 303 in 2013. Since then, the event has established itself as a platform for inventive performance that questions the status quo. In our current context of major political changes, we invited Montreal cabaret scene-sters, to create short piece that speak directly to current affairs.
Come early to enjoy the pre-show austerity cocktail, featuring austerity-themed magic tricks by Yan Lee Chan and dioramas by Jacqueline van de Geer & Jesse Orr. Don’t miss the latest edition of creative commentary on this new political era with Montreal’s cabaret darlings: Emcees Madame et Matante, 2Fik + Alexis O’Hara, projets hybris, Glam Gam, 2boys.tv, Mobile Home, a mini-concert by Hua Li, and party til 3am with dj-sets by Alanna Kraaijeveld and David Albert-Toth.
Cabaret Tollé is also Studio 303’s annual fundraiser. Come ready for a silent auction where you can steal festival passes, massages, restaurant coupons, 303 $$ and some small art objects which make perfect stocking stuffers!
