Dates for the open west 2011 are announced – an annual open competition and exhibition, inviting submissions from national and international artists practising contemporary and conceptual art, inclusive of painting, installation, film, photography, print and sculpture. The exhibition, of up to 40 shortlisted artists, will run from 9 February to 5 March 2011, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Award winners will be offered an exhibition at the Gardens Gallery in August 2011. There will be an opportunity for interested artists to participate in a community programme. An artist’s residency will be available at the Meantime project space in Cheltenham. the open west publishes a limited edition screenprinted catalogue and organises artist talks alongside the exhibition.
