Overview

Biography

Allan is a film festival programmer and organizer as well as journalist who writes and researches personal finance, eco-friendly living and film. His short films are currently playing the festival circuit while he completes a feature documentary supported by the Sundance Institute. For the past decade, Allan has organized and/or programmed several festivals including Planet in Focus, CONTACT Toronto Photography and most recently aluCine Latin Film + Video. As SAVAC's Education Officer, Allan introduced South Asian films to Toronto schools. Allan has been a producer and office manager at TV production companies. Recently, he was a researcher on The Beatles LIVE! Project. He is regularly published in New York's Filmmaker magazine, POV and Montage. His business articles have been published in Canadian Business, Canadian Grocer and Payments Business among others. Online, he was the digital editor at a law firm, regularly blogs for two film sites, and created content for the 2013 aluCine Latin Film Festival. His award-winning short films have played festivals from Singapore to New York, and have been broadcast on the CBC and Bravo. He is co-directing LEONE STARS, which was the first documentary to ever win TIFF's Pitch This! competition and which received Sundance and Telefilm funding.
