Ben Eastabrook




Ben Eastabrook graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2011 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. During his degree, Eastabrook curated and exhibited several times in the TRU Art Gallery and other locations around Kamloops. During a six week field study course at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture in Dawson City, Yukon Territories, he took part in 2 exhibitions, a film festival and coordinated a city wide art walk/hike. Eastabrook received several awards and scholarships during his degree, including the McGraw-Hill Ryerson award for student leadership and innovation, as well as a Faculty of Arts Award through the Kamloops Blazer's Education Society.

Since 2007, Eastabrook has been volunteering for various art organizations and events around Kamloops, such as the curating, organization, set up, take down and supervision of the TRU/Arnica Artist Run Centre exhibition at the Kamloops Arts Council's Art in the Park, and as the installation assistant for the Kamloops Art Gallery. At the beginning of his final year of fine arts in 2010 he began working for the Kamloops Art Gallery as the installation assistant. In 2012 he was hired as the Gallery Coordinator of Arnica Artist Run Centre, and as an artist and gallery assistant for Chazou Gallery.

Since graduation, Eastabrook has continued to work on his art praxis, which consists primarily of sculpture and installation based work, as well as various forms of printmaking. His first solo exhibition is scheduled for the winter of 2014 at the Wilson House Gallery in Kamloops.

    With Kamloops Art Gallery from September 2010 to present in Kamloops, British Columbia.
    Assist with the installation of exhibitions featured in the Kamloops Art Gallery's Main gallery and Cube gallery spaces.
  • Artist Assistant Current

    With Chazou Gallery from August 2012 to present in Kamloops, British Columbia.
    Assistant to Tricia Sellmer, Artist and Director of Chazou Gallery. Installation of exhibitions, design and maintenance of website, and project assistance when needed.
