Passionate about art since childhood, Dave Todaro pursued studies in Illustration, Design and Fine Arts, and obtained a degree in Art Education from Concordia University. He worked as a visual arts instructor/teacher, but in the end could not ignore the drive to express himself through his canvases, and took a leap of faith to devote all of his time and attention to his artistic practice. In works that are often emotional and complex, Dave confronts and brings to light the growing paradox that has evolved between nature and human culture in their various forms. Juxtaposing the starkness of human presence and intervention with depictions of its effects on our environment, he puts the place of man into question with his serenely haunting imagery. His examinations of these complex interactions are often figurative but sometimes abstract, and always thought-provoking.
