Tamara Ammar

I was born in Beirut, Lebanon and attended the French school where I got a French baccalaureate in 1995. I was interested in art at a very young age, and mainly in experimenting with different materials. I used to collect bottles of different shapes and create mixed media collages on them.

In 1999, I graduated with a Bachelor in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut and pursued my carrier as a graphic designer for the next two years. Then I decided to pursue an MBA in Marketing, thinking that Design being conceptual and marketing being strategic and profit oriented, would be a good combination.

I moved to Texas, and graduated with an MBA in Marketing from the University of Texas (Arlington) in 2003. I was also working on freelance projects during that time so I wouldn't lose touch with design.

I have since moved to many countries and experienced many cultures. I have over 7 years experience as an Art Director working on major accounts including Starbucks (Bates PanGulf), Footlocker (Bates PanGulf), LG (Y&R), Jaguar (Y&R), Land Rover (Y&R), Kenwood (Y&R), Debenham's (Bates PanGulf), D'Lush (Bates PanGulf), Vavavoom (Bates PanGulf), CK (Y&R), Woolford (Y&R) and other important local accounts. I have also worked on the client side as a campaign manager for a leading bank in Kuwait, communicating with the agency.

My overall experience has given me good attention to details, good communication and team-leading skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines and problem-solving. It has also tremendously developed my creativity, conceptualization and visual aptitude. And finally, it allowed me to acquire a good understanding of the client/agency relationship, as well as a good understanding of cultures and diversity.
