Kate Barry is a Canadian visual artist and a sessional instructor at the University of Ottawa. After ten years in Vancouver, Barry moved to Ottawa where she completed her MFA. Her interdisciplinary work focuses primarily on performance art and is concerned with questions of subjectivity, intersubjectivity and the performative capacities of the body. Her exhibition history includes Galerie SAW Gallery (Ottawa, ON), National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, ON), Fait Maison (Gatineau, QC) The Rider Project (New York City), and Musée d’Orsay (Paris, France). Barry has received a number of awards for her work including an Ontario Arts Council Grant (2010), City of Ottawa Grant (2010) as well as a nomination for Best Emerging Ottawa Artist in 2010.
